Concealed Carry: A Practical Guide
by Bill Quinn, Ele Quinn (Editor) (Paperback - December 1997)
Avg. Customer Rating:

Book Description
The author has
found that few of us, in our capacity as fathers, mothers, spouses,
friends or citizens have much knowledge or experience carrying a
concealed weapon designated for defense. This general lack of
experience, training and knowledge can be a severe detriment in the
daily practice of concealed carry. Concealed Carry - A Practical Guide
is his contribution to this deficit and is intended as a guide to assist
citizens in the tricky navigation they face once they choose to explore
the journey from defenselessness to self defense. His carefully
researched volume documents important and often overlooked aspects of
concealed carry, self defense and the use of deadly force that are
critical to the practice of concealed carry. |

I Love a Cop
by Ellen Kirschman (Paperback)
Avg. Customer Rating:

Book Review
My husband is a veteran police officer with 11
years on the streets. I've been with him for 7 of those years. I would
strongly recommend this book to anyone in the early stages of a
relationship with a police officer or to anyone who just doesn't quite
understand why living with a police officer is so much different than
living with anyone else. It goes far beyond dealing with shift work &
overtime! Being a police officer isn't just a job to the officer, it's
who they are, not simply what they do for a living. The uniform & badge
may come off, but he or she is still a police officer. In itself, that's
very difficult to get accustomed to living with on a daily basis. It's
definitely a book that every law enforcement family needs to read and
it's a great reference book as well. |

To Keep and Bear Arms: The Origins of an Anglo-American Right
by Joyce Lee Malcolm
Avg. Customer Rating:

Book Description
Few topics of contemporary social, moral, and
political debate can provoke as much raw emotion and open hostility as
the Second Amendment, particularly in relation to the topic of gun
prohibition. This subject routinely causes many well-intentioned people
of whatever view to give up all pretense of courtesy and reason in favor
of attacks on those with whom they disagree. Readers of history
professor Joyce Lee Malcolm's To Keep and Bear Arms: The Origins of an
Anglo-American Right will find these ugly by-products of the
contemporary conflict refreshingly absent. Malcolm clearly keeps her
distance from any broad normative judgments about the social utilities
or costs of civilian firearms possession, offering instead a sober,
scholarly, historical discussion of the Amendment's origins.
Meticulously tracing the British history of regulations on firearms
ownership from the Middle Ages on, she provides a detailed and
illuminating history that includes the English Bill of Rights and, a
century later, the American one. Because it is only in this historical
context that the Second Amendment's meaning can be fully understood and
appreciated, Malcolm's book is essential reading for anyone interested
in this complex and controversial subject. |

The Origin of the Second Amendment: A Documentary History of the Bill of
Rights in Commentaries on Liberty, Free Government & an Armed Populace
1787-
by David E. Young (Editor) (Paperback - May 1995)
Avg. Customer Rating:

Book Description
This is an excellent book.
Mr. Young devotes only a few pages of this thick volume to his own opinions,
mostly just allowing those alive back in Constitution-making days to
speak for themselves about the Second Amendment. And speak they do.
Truthfully, I've never read the whole book straight through, but every
time I crack it open to some random page I am amazed at the attitudes
people had back then. How different from our modern sheep-like
mentality, or the version of history we're fed by today's pop culture.
This book ought to be in
every public library and on every citizen's bookshelf.

The Seven Myths of Gun Control: Reclaiming the Truth About Guns, Crime,
and the Second Amendment
by Richard Poe, David Horowitz (Foreword) (Hardcover - July 2001)
Avg. Customer Rating:

Book Description
Today, the right
to own a gun is under assault like never before. Every time a firearm is
used in a high-profile crime, calls for stricter gun regulation—even
outright prohibition—are pounded into us by a press that has taken
sides. In fact, when it comes to guns, journalists have clearly made up
their minds. According to a recent study, television news stories
calling for stricter gun laws outnumbered newscasts opposing such laws
by a ratio of ten to one. In other words, we are hearing only one side
of the story.
This is the
other side.
"A
blockbuster book every freedom-loving American should read." —
Christopher Ruddy, editor, NewsMax.com
In The
Seven Myths of Gun Control, award-winning journalist and
bestselling author Richard Poe cuts through the blizzard of anti-gun
propaganda and uncovers the truth about guns, crime, and freedom. He
details the seven most common arguments used by gun prohibitionists,
debunking each one with a wealth of statistical and legal data gleaned
from top experts in the field of guns and gun rights. You will discover
that, contrary to myth, the availability of guns leads to less crime,
not more; that guns do not pose a special threat to our children; and
that the Second Amendment is as vital to the lives and liberty of modern
Americans as it was in frontier times. You will also learn how the
current drive to further regulate and even outlaw firearms is a
point-blank assault not only on truth but on freedom as well.
Provocative,
accessible, and persuasive, The Seven Myths of Gun Control
is a thoughtful and invaluable contribution to the national debate about
guns. |
